Ryan is a wonderful guide and Shanghai is an amazing city! I brought a group of middle school students from America--this was the first trip to China for all of us. Ryan did a great job of connecting with the students and keeping them engaged with his quiz questions and jokes. He also suggested some great evening activities for them. I was a little nervous to bring a group of students to China, but I feel so lucky that I picked Travel China Guide as a tour company--they made everything so easy and manageable. Everything about our tour was fantastic. From the moment we made our first inquiry throughout more than a dozen email message and phone calls, our TravelChinaGuide.com travel consultant, Abbey Cheng was delightful! Abbey was most helpful in answering all of our questions before the tour and even a few after the tour began. I can’t say enough about the excellent customer service Abbey provided before and during our tour. All of our TravelChinaGuide tour guides were outstanding. Ocean got us off to a great start in Shanghai, extending our tour day to help us understand exactly what the luggage limitations for our specific flight from Shanghai to Xian. Susan in Xian was so thoughtful, at one point it looked as though we would not have time for a meal Susan went out of her way to find snacks for us at her own expense! In Beijing Maggie was so accommodating! After adjusting our start date to allow my wife time to rest, we had a wonderful tour of the great wall. And then when my wife became very ill, Maggie changed our entire tour plan around to escort us to and around the International Hospital in Beijing. She even stayed with us and helped my wife through preliminary tests and x-rays as she had become very weak. Later Maggie would run out for food while my wife and I remained at the hospital. She even arranged for a taxi with her personal account when we had to make a second trip to the hospital the following day. We are so grateful for all Maggie did when our plans had to be adjusted. My wife and I were part of a small group tour with Travel China Guide that included 11 nights/12 days in 4 different cities in China, starting in Beijing.

The last two nights and 1 day - really short for Shanghai!- were in Shanghai, and I must say how great even that short two nights/1day in Shanghai were due to the expertise with which Travel China Guide put together the itinerary, and thanks to our Shanghai guide Ocean (peter4u).

We were accommodated in a top hotel (Parkline Century Park Hotel) located in probably the best neighborhood of Shanghai. We were taken to the best entertainment programs, best restaurants and the popular "The Bund" night scene, as well as a visit to the Shanghai Tower with a visit to its top floor (108th).

During our entire time in Shanghai, Ocean kept us informed of many historical and other important/relevant facts about Shanghai. Overall, I give 5 stars for this great experience, and will strongly recommend Travel China Guide to tourists (especailly first time visitors, like us)! Less

Just want to point out that my trip to China was memorable. Thanks in part to our amicable and good natured Tour Guide - Ocean. (Hopefully I spelled his name correctly).

Despite the cultural differences and political views of our countries, I learned a lot from him. Not just on the subject tour but also on the Chinese POV. It was interesting and the same time enlightening.

Ocean is well adept in English which surprised me so it made it even a more enjoyable exchange rather than struggling with the language barrier which is common when visiting new countries. Nothing more frustrating than the inability to communicate. Hands down, Ocean grasps English very well, so this will not be an issue.

Proud to say that I highly recommend that you ask for Ocean Li in your next vacation. Won’t regret it. He is highly respectful and I would declare a shared camaraderie with him. We teased him but he took it in stride. Awesome man.

In fact, during our Free Day, Ocean was accessible to help us navigate through the city when we were lost while looking for a restaurant that he recommended to try. He brought us to an excellent restaurant that presents classic Shanghai cuisine. And yes it was good. Flavourful and more volume than we can muster.

One other aspect about Ocean is his concern for your safety. Without hesitation he warned us of potential hazards a tourist may encounter. Although there were no circumstances that would raise alarm bells, it was good to know that we should still raise our awareness. And Ocean was forthcoming with his warning.

Ocean is very knowledgeable of his city and does take pride of Shanghai. He delivered the nuances of the city sights with ease. It didn’t feel like school but more of learning insights of some of the recent events in the city and of course the legacy.

Hi. My wife and I recently went on a 12 day tour of China. The organizing agency was TravelChina Guide and they come highly recommended.

All the arrangements and bookings were done via email and payment for the tour was done electronically. Everything went without a hitch.

You will find their information very detailed and helpful and they kept to their word in every respect.

Very importantly, they have excellent guides. If you are going to Shanghai, insist on Sophie Lee, who was our guide there. She was simply incredible!

Her English is very good and she is extremely knowledgeable about Shanghai and China. Moreover, she was attentive and caring at all times.

Our plane from Chengdu was 3 hours late but Sophie was right on time to meet us at the airport.

En route to the hotel, I asked if she knew anyone who could help me. I was meeting my elderly brother who lives in Shanghai and who speaks little English. Sophie volunteered without any hesitation.

She stayed with us for the whole evening and enabled my brother and me to communicate with each other. And, at the end of the evening, she saw him safely home.

How incredible - and helpful - that was!

Needless to say, if ever I visited Shanghai again, Sophie would definitely be my first choice! Less
