Today you need to find your own way to the airport. Direct flight is not available from Perth to Beijing, so you need to make a connection in Guangzhou. The whole flight will take about 13 hours.

When your flight arrives at Beijing Capital Airport, you can take the shuttle bus or taxi to check in a hotel in downtown area. We suggest you the 3-star King Parkview Hotel located at Shatan Back Street, which is quite near the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park. Please take a taxi to the hotel directly, and it would cost you about CNY100. Remember to ask for the receipt and keep a record of the license plate number if necessary. Check into the hotel and have a good rest.

If time permits, you may walk to the Jingshan Park to have a bird's eye view of the Forbidden City in the twilight. You can walk westwards for 200 yards to the Jingshan East Road and enter the park from the East Gate.

Day 2 Beijing
Our group at the Forbidden City
Our group at the Forbidden City
Since you had a glimpse of the full view of the Forbidden City yesterday, today you can make a further exploration inside the grand imperial palace and the nearby attractions. After breakfast, please take a taxi at a cost of CNY20 to Tiananmen Square. Around the square, you can see National Theater, People's Assembly Hall and the Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao.

Afterwards, go across the road and walk through the Tiananmen Tower to the Meridian Gate, the entrance of the Forbidden City. As the palace is very large, we suggest you buy a map or rent an audio guide at the entrance. Most highlights of the palace are along the central axis and two hours is enough to cover them.

When getting out of the palace from the Gate of Divine Prowess, you can have lunch at one of the restaurants in Jingshan West Street. Then take a taxi to the Capital Museum, and that may cost you about CNY25. The museum opens to the public for free, but you need to make a reservation on its official website or by calling the phone number (+86) 10 63393339. The reservation can be made at least one day and at most seven days in advance.
Day 3 Beijing
We suggest you visit one of the must-see attractions in Beijing, the Great Wall today, and we recommend the Mutianyu section where the wall is well-preserved and not as crowded as other hot sections. Take a taxi with a fare of CNY20 from the hotel to Dongzhimen Bus Station, where you can take bus No. 916 Express to Huairou North Street. Then hire a car to the Great Wall at a cost of around CNY50. However, you can also carpool with other tourists as you can easily find companions who have the same destination with you. As the food in local restaurants near Mutianyu may be not to your taste, you can take some fast food with you, or have lunch in the SUBWAY restaurant near the wall. Please note that the last bus returns from Huairou to downtown at 19:00. Upon arrival at Dongzhimen, hire a taxi to go back to your hotel.
Day 4 Beijing - Xi'an
