Shanghai - Chengdu Train

Shanghai and Chengdu are two of major tourism destinations in China. Both normal and high speed trains are running between. The high speed ones all run in daytime, taking 11-15 hours. The ordinary ones travel overnight, but they take a long time of 30 to 38.5 hours. Although the sceneries along the way are not bad, it wastes a lot of time, especially for those who are pressed for time. In the case, high speed ones are better choices. After arriving and have a good rest over the night, one can travel around energetically and leisurely.

However, if you travel in a hurry, flight will be a good option, whose duration is about 3.5-5 hours. But it will generally cost you more.

High Speed Trains

All the three pairs of bullet trains are running between Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Chengdu East Railway Station. The travel time is two times less than the ordinary ones. But correspondingly, they are more expensive, even more expensive than the flight tickets in low season. They usually depart in the morning and arrive in the late evening, so you have a full day to relax yourself and admire the scenery along the way.

Four pairs of normal type sleeper trains are in service between the two cities at present. Although the ticket fare is much cheaper compared with the high speed ones, the long journey may make one annoying and dog-tired. To travel by it, you'd better buy a sleeper and buy one in advance because they are always in demand.

Both Chongqing and Zhangjiajie train trips were brilliant. We were lucky that the window seats you issued are real window seats with some nice views. These two places have different climate conditions and typical landscapes. Esp. in Chongqing, a mountain city, we could easily lose our way. It became one of our special memories. We also tried the spicy hotpot in Chongqing. Pretty good!

Bought tickets on two high speed trains, but there was no seat numbers showed on tickets. We contacted Ivy and she explained that all train stations would use this kind of tickets, I could get my seats as normal and it really was. The train condition was very good and the seats were comfortable.

Your service was amazing. I made a mistake about the city name. I should go to Suzhou in Jiangsu province but I chose Suzhou in Anhui province. Miss Liu found my mistake and helped me change the ticket. Otherwise, we would go to the wrong place. We appreciated your help!

Travelchinaguide provided excellent service in every aspect. My Gmail account was blocked in China so I asked them to contact me by WeChat. It was very convenient to chat there, Jessica even called me once and sent confirmation in messages to me, ticket pick-up details and so on. Thanks for your professional service.

Thank God we left China before coronavirus broke up, I wish all of you are well now. Your company’s service are fabulous, my consultant solved many difficulties we met in China, in our trip to Shanghai. The only regret is that we cannot make it to see Shanghai Tower because of weather, others are great!

I found your website offers many good instructions to foreigners who visit China at the first time, and I can see many pictures on it about all types of trains and seats. It will be very helpful for your future clients.
